Who: Anyone!
When: July 2nd, after dark
What: Same thing we do every year, Pinky.
What a serene, quiet night it was. The air was warm, the skies were clear, and there were no explosions to be found.

...Scratch that, there were definitely explosions. But none of the destructive type! Once again, a certain somebody had carefully set up a series

But Fuel wasn't here. He wasn't in Sunshine Forest, he was in the city. Was somebody setting fires in the city, too?! That didn't sound too farfetched, considering the people here. He rolled out of bed and grabbed his pants and 4x4, looking quite ridiculous as he tried to dress himself and balance the lumber on his shoulder while hurrying out the door. If there was any danger, he had no time to waste on things like shirts or belts or even shoes.
...Wait, what were those lights in the sky? Fireflies? Come to think of it, hadn't there been something similar on the cruise? Besides being near deafening, they hadn't done any actual harm then, had they? These ones were probably the same. He frowned a bit, watching the sky ( ... )

Here they were though... the fireworks. They were coming from the school again which was still not allowed, but the sullen captain had forgotten about that by now.
Instead all he could do was just gaze cheerlessly into the sky alone; he really should go back inside. His family must be watching it from inside.
It was then a horrible horrible emotional sting paralyzed him (okay gave him no motivation) from moving. There was no way to NOT think about it.
It couldn't even last a whole year...The last few weeks have been flat out depressing, everything that had happened replayed through his mind. But seeing the fireworks again brought him right back to a year ago, where everything had seemed so uncertain and exciting. All gone now. The colorful explosions in the air only served to remind him of a miserable failure on his part. He could only imagine how awful Ollie was feeling now.
Or maybe he didn't have to imagine. Watching the fireworks from the balcony of his apartment, Falcon dug around in his pocket for his phone, pulling it out and dialing the other captain's number with some hesitation.
Before he could change his mind, he pressed the "send" key, held the phone to his ear, and waited for an answer. Maybe there wouldn't be one at all.

"Hello?..." The response was hollow.

Hearing Ollie's voice made him wish he had really thought this through. "It's me." Captain Obvious!
It suddenly dawned on him that maybe the other captain didn't want to talk to him at all and that he shouldn't have even dialed the number. "I uh...I just wanted to ask how you are."

For now, he sat there and gazed up at the fireworks for a while. Part of him wanted to be the usual daredevil and go flying in the flurry of pleasant sky bombs anyway, but nah. That could happen another day.
... Actually, he kinda wondered what it'd be like skydiving as fireworks were going on. Roasted goose

So he just slipped down back under his sheets and pulled the covers up to his nose, making the face in his icon with his eyes bugged out.
