What: Digging, finding stuff older than the hills, and later a HAPPENING. Also FREE FOOD.
Where: At a dig. Somewhere.
When: Saturday and Sunday, October 8th and 9th
Warnings: Probable language, and later something going down.

Having assembled the students for his Sunday lecture, Giovanni was about to speak to them at length about the artifacts found at the site, and the uses of carbon dating when a tremor began rumbling through the landscape. It was quickly growing in intensity, like the footsteps of a titan.

A deep, enraged roar shook even the air, chasing away even the clouds in the sky. Everything was growing hotter and hotter as the white hot eye of the sun blazed down at them all - a heatwave, in October.

The massive figure that appeared in the distance could've almost been written away as a mere mirage - its silhouette was hazy, but as it came closer and closer, it became clear that this giant was no product of the heat, but the source of it.

Groudon was angry, and she was headed for the school. This field trip assemblage was simply smack dab in the middle of her path.

Groudon let out an ear-shattering roar as she passed by the two, trampling everything in her path. Sorry about that, buried artifacts, but the Ancient Pokemon was not stopping for anything. Not even her mother's disapproval. She was simply too blinded by rage.

I WILL ALLOW NONE TO STAND IN MY WAY.

The expletive was left unsaid as Knuckles watched that... thing approaching. He could feel the sun blazing against his fur and was suddenly even more glad of his wide brimmed hat. It wasn't a construct - it was alive. He could tell. It was a for-real, giant monster that was bringing the weather with it.

Well. Damn.

There was only one thing to do, of course. He took off his backpack, slipped on his shovel claws and started to head toward it. Either he could find out what it wanted and get it to go, or he could fight it and send it back wherever it came from by force. He'd faced giant robot death machines about that size - this couldn't be too hard. Right?

The closer Knuckles got to the behemoth, the more unbearably hot it was becoming. The air around her was so hot, even the moisture in the soil was withering away. The sun only enhanced the heat emanating from her carapace - she felt like a walking volcano.

Either the legendary Pokemon hadn't noticed the tiny Echidna headed towards her, or she simply didn't care. Regardless, Groudon continued her way towards the school.

"HEEEEEEEY!" Knuckles called, slamming on his brakes. Damn... his eyeballs felt dry. His mouth was dry. He was HOT - and not in the 'Oh man I could go for a sodapop' kind of way. In the 'Damnit I think I'm going to turn into Echidna Jerky' kind of way.

But then, he'd braved steel refineries and the insides of volcanoes before. This was nothing new to him. He would perservere. He yelled again.

"HEEEEEY! YOU! BUDDY! YOU CAN'T COME THIS WAY!"

The words were lost entirely to Knuckles ears due to the distance between them - which was rapidly growing - and the sound of the beast's footsteps. However, he could only assume that being as Giovanni was the Staff Member responsible for this field trip, he was saying something along the lines of 'Yes, I had better get all my students to safety.'

Because Knuckles really IS that naive, ladies and gentlemen!

He gave the teacher a quick thumbs up before turning his attention bsack to the task at hand.

Up in the sky, Sasha hadn't wasted time to fly towards the beast. She didn't know what it was, but she did intend on giving Knuckles a hand.
