In an interesting turn of events, the sweet Bloomingdale's guy with the eye called ME, rather than the other way around. It was a very quick conversation that very much gave me the impression he was after a commission on the sale more than anything else. I'm not that surprised by that or by the phone call; the nice salesperson from Jil Sander

It's one thing to spend a few hundred dollars on Jil Sander shoes for yourself. It's another to spend $36 on a hat for a child that's not yours. Just get something from Baby Gap.

Besides, that's $36 that could go towards another pair of shoes. Pray tell, how much were those beauties?

$575 on sale for around $350. I don't know if I'd have bought them full price, I think $450 is pushing it for shoes. But for $350, there was no question in my mind.
