Ingress loved staying with Amy and her family in Ambergelder. The dancing, the yummy feasts, the pretty dresses, having fun without thinking about anything but pleasant holiday thoughts. It's not the hardest thing in the world to distract a young girl from troubles.

Sallie misses the blue hair.

"Ingress?" Sallie's voice calls from behind the girl's perch on the sofa. "Did we decide what kind o' filling we're to be making tonight?"

Ingress forgets all about the color of her hair, disguised for everyone's sake, except when she sees it in the mirror. Even then, it's still her looking back, so that's all that matters. She stands up and hurries over.

"Can we do a mix of different berries? I can't decide between blueberries or strawberries or blackberries."

"Don't see why not," Sallie shrugs gamefully, already planning ahead to something more akin to a cobbler than a traditional pie.

"First thing we're going to be needing I think is an apron," Sallie declares, sizing Ingress up. "Wouldn't want you getting a mess all over yourself. I think I have extras on one of the shelves in the pantry."

She scampers to the pantry and gets a blue one with frilly ruffles. It's a little too big, but not really all that much. Ingress has had another growth spurt lately.

"Okay," she says, fumbling with the tie behind her back. "I like aprons. They're like fancy dresses, but not so heavy."
