Being different is a crime, at least in Korean’s Entertainment it is.
Amber remembers it clearly, the day she turned on the television and she saw them, she saw a glimpse of her future. Those groups of people, they were called idols. They were inspirations to kids at her age, they were what drove her, what brought her to the door of SM’s building. She was just around ten when she stood there glancing up and down the tall building that was at least thirty floors high.
Happy was an understatement of what she felt when she opened the envelope to find 'congratulation' and 'accepted' in there. She jumped up and down, she screamed in joy and nagged her parents over and over again until they picked up their pens and finally signed that piece of paper. Sadly she did not realize it then, she didn't have a clue about what this little piece of paper could do to her.
Her thought was interrupted when a flight attendant asked if she would like something to drink which Amber declined with a small smile. She let out a heavy, tiring sigh as she looked outside the window of her flight back home, trying to put herself to sleep.
“She’s definitely a lesbian, I even freak when I saw her in the girl’s toilette last week”
The squeaky laughter of Hwang Tiffany echoed throughout the girl’s restroom following by her other friends. Amber didn’t dare speak nor move instead she sat there in her cubicle and listened to their mocking laughter, stiffening her cries.
“You do realize that not everybody is as girly as you guys are right?”
The laughter stop as the unfamiliar voice interrupted them abruptly. Soon the sound of footsteps could be heard and before Amber realized it only one girl was left in the restroom.
“I know you’re there, I can see your boy’s sneakers”
A small smile always forms when she thinks about her, Krystal never fail to make her smile or laugh. Her first friend, her best friend and truthfully Krystal was her only friend. Krystal wasn’t perfect; she wasn’t superficial, fake like the other girls in the business. Krystal was just different like Amber, she wasn’t afraid to show other people who she really is.
“We’re not freaks, we’re not bitches, we’re just not afraid to be different”
The Korean business was wrong; Krystal doesn’t have an attitude problem. No, Krystal was just expressing her emotion, just being humane, she was enraged. Yes, Krystal was enraged by the fact that Amber left without a word, no note, no message, nothing.
“One day we’ll be even bigger than all our Sunbaes and when that time comes, people like us won’t be afraid to speak their minds”
That was their promise, they made it together and promises were made to be kept. For a long while Amber was convinced that she could make it through, despite being…..well….boyish, lesbian like but it took her this long to realize that the other members will, Krystal will. Luna vocal was powerful nearly as good as all their sunbaes, her dancing skills are near perfection and the other members were just holding her back from shining. Victoria was entertaining, pretty, playful, quirky and going on We Got Married was just pushing her further into stardom. Sulli was pretty and no gives a sh** if she’s a bitch, since when do you have to be talented to be an idol? Krystal was pretty, Krystal was Jessica Jung’s sister and Amber? Nobody was ever sure whether she’s a girl or a boy.
Sometime Amber think she’s living in a dungeon, she felt as if she’s being lock up in a SM’s dungeon but when they told her “We don’t need a gender confuse person around here to drag this group down”. Amber then start to realize that it was better to be lock up than being let go off.
