Several people have asked me what the "best" part of the trip was. I had so carefully planned this vacation that there were few disappointments. But there were some special highlights.

The hike in Gamla.

I think we must have read "The Exodus" at about the same age, and it had the same impact. What a terrific book!

I honestly think you would make a great travel writer!

Thanks for sharing, Susan. It really does sound like an incredible trip. I love tying what I've read or seen in film/tv to the actual places I visit - even when the real thing doesn't appear to have any relationship to its depictions in the media. I get the same feelings traveling here in the UK. I love the 'ancientness' of it all; love to think about what it must have been like to live through the blitz.
