Back in the mid-90's, the scientists changed the latin name from felis concolor to puma concolor. So mountain lions are now in their own branch of the Felid family tree.

Thanks for sticking up for the mountain lions and for wildlife. Humans often claim to be the higher intelligence and then fail to put it to use figuring out how to coexist peacefully with the animals in the surrounding landscape.

Hrm, thanks. I have an old book of animals from my step-father's mother which says cougars are vicious animals that love to hang around on tree limbs and leap on unsuspecting and helpless prey. That book has quite a few mistakes and it too angers me.
