So I have this ongoing spreadsheet that I work on and sometimes I make a note about a certain item on the sreadsheet. But if I stop typing or move to a different box, and then want to come back and continue my note, Excel won't let me continue. Then, it's pretty much delete what you have, paste the text into a Word document or whatever, finish your ( Read more... )

There's a bar towards the top of the screen that you can finish typing in :)

Yes, the formula bar helps. Sometimes it's not showing and you need to make it visible. Also, you should be able to edit right in the spreadsheet box as well without having to go to the formula bar.

In Excel, if you go back to the cell and just start typing, it will overwrite what is there. But if you double-click the cell, it will let you edit in the cell.

Yep, formula bar. It's my best pal in Excel. Which I loathe, but at least I have the formula bar to keep me company.

If I recall, F2 is the hotkey to put you into edit mode in a cell, which should put the cursor into the cell so you can type.

Double-click and it should put a cursor in the cell so you can start typing again.
