don't worry, I missed it too. I thought it was going to be this awesome book, and then I read it, and I was like...so this reads like it was written by a 12 year old, plus the guy puts in *every* after school special ever made, too--rape, incest, teen pregnancy, drugs, drinking, teen suicide, older girlfriend, cutting, abusive boyfriend, etc. I think the only thing that was missing was *maybe* running away, but...I think maybe Sam did that at one point? I was just...so disappointed after I was done. The book was, well, terrible.

I didn't enjoy the book all that much either. Not sure why it's considered a YA "classic". That being said, i loved the movie.
