I think your initial "that's kinda weird" reaction is legit. The sending of two messages, unsolicited, with his phone number, strikes me as very... odd. Either he's very awkward socially and doesn't know that's not normal OR he's spamming local girls, hoping for a response through sheer volume.

Neither of those things means he mightn't be a nice person, but they're both reasons for pause, I think. If you are interested in him at all, I'd pursue the having Leah find something out for you and also send him a noncomittal, "So who are you, why do you want to get to know me" kind of message. See if he's actually got the wit to respond to you as an individual rather than just sending variations on the same self-serving generic message over and over again.

OMG!!! we will have to meet up and chill!!!!!!! ok the thing is...saturday, i am volunteering at the Leafs game. ALSO, before the Leafs game, there is a Toronto Marlies game, and i'm volunteering for that. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT..........i can always cancell out on that and we can go to that game together???? the Marlies game is at the ACC...it wont be sold out. the leaf game....the only way i know is scalpers .. but if you can get standing room for a decent price i would tell you to go for it because standing room is pretty good, and its Leafs vs Montreal....hmm

i'll talk to you on msn tonight, ok????? or later in the week. im excited!

yeah it would be way cool to see the Leafs and the Habs! We'll check out the standing room tickets, if it's too much $$ then maybe we'll try for the Marlies. Hockey is awsome no matter what!
