It would be a really tough call for number one between Arithon and Francisco d'Anconia. That would require hardcore analysis.

5. Jack Ryan (even though he was a Marine)

I can't be feelin ya on the Lancelot after reading the books again. The thing he did with Elaine was just too stupid. It was too honorable and he was always abasing himself. Totally can't go there.

i know that was skanky and i HATE Elaine.. i guess i just put thos cuz it was my first exposure to Lancelot and he was great until that moment. ive read many Arthurian tales, just to get to Lance but that one is still my fav. However, he appears in Guy Gavriel Kay's The Fionavar Tapestry and he's pretty rockin there too.. it's all good.

and Francisco almost made my list but i had to give him up to get Dashel in there..

true. I almost included Dash as well. But that's not really functional because had I been a participant in those stories I'd have chosen Arutha long before. Thus I'd be a couple generations older than Dash.

Yes, that's examining the issue too closely perhaps, but it makes sense.

and its even worse for me since i picked JIMMY and Dash. thats just freaky. haha
