I absolutely love this. There was no way of knowing where you would take this story, it was a complete surprise, wrapped in shiny characterisations and interesting details and beautiful writing. The passage with Mer and Lexie in the bar, talking about the suicide of Alex's mother made me choke.

Love love love.

One question:
Two years and four months after she goes back to Boston, there will be a wedding in Seattle.
Whose wedding is it?

I definitely intended for that scene in the bar to be a gut punch, and I'm happy to hear it had the desired effect.

As for who's wedding it is, well, that's left to the imagination but I don't think it's necessarily as important to the story as some people might think.

I'm glad you liked this! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

I do no normally read Lexie Grey fic because most of the time other people's characterization and understanding of her doesn't match up to mine, but yours does considerably, and I'm so glad I can add you to my list of people I can read and not roll my eyes at, because this was wonderful. Thank-you for writing this. And for sharing. Made my day.

*and I did not mean that to sound as snobby and pretentious as I'm sure it does to you.

Truth be told, I'm the same way. In my experience there's a lot of people who seem to think Lexie is more focused on her relationships over her career and the rest of her life and I just can't deal with that. It robs her of her depth and in the process makes her come off as completely innocent and naive. So, trust me, I don't think you sound snobby. I think you sound right.

I'm glad you enjoyed this! Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

I am just now reading this and it's great. I think the thing about Lexie is that she actually has to work at relationships because her career comes so easily for her. I've never really written Lexie but I have a goal this year and it is to branch out of my writing circle. More of what I used to write, more of what I've never written.

Overall, there was something I read in here that stuck with me: Her parents’ anniversary, the first one neither will be alive to recognize, will be the first time she cries over her father, but not the last.

After my mother died, my dad seemed to forget their anniversary. He remembered it the year she died (mainly because their anniversary was 2 days after she died), but he never addressed it since.
