I love the way you interpret Mark and maintain that he DOES love Lexie, more than anything in the world, but that it's just not enough in the end. I love Mark and I love him with Lexie, and yet this feels completely plausible. You write that Mark's an eventuality and yet, it seems as if Alex/Lexie is the real constant in this story (and in the show if you want to play it that way).

Wow. I loved this, because I've been waiting for Alex to blow after the events of the shooting [sure he yelled at Kapner but...] to me this does more than fix the holes in canon, it makes perfect sense with canon, actually.
Okay, so reading is finished and I sat and read this in one sitting, both parts. I find it amazing and the flow of it is fantastic. I love the raw honesty of Alex and the fact that all of them are written in character.
