This was just...beautiful. The dialogue and thinking were SO true to the voices of Alex and Izzie, and it was just...guh. Exactly what I needed to feel that there IS a future for Alex and Izzie after that awful episode, even if it's a future we might just have to imagine. Thank you for this great piece!

I believe there is a future. I don't imagine it's neat and I don't believe it's a forever sort of thing, but that was not the last of Alex and Izzie. It's why that episode doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would and as much as it did others.

I'm glad you liked this! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

I suppose I'm a bit more pessimistic at this point. *Sigh* Until this episode I was saying every week, "It's going to work out," but this episode...idk. But your thinking is really starting to change my mind, so thank you for that!

I am the eternal pessimist, so I understand that. In fact, I haven't even been singing that tune. I had a feeling that this was coming. But the thing is, you have to hit rock bottom before you can find your way back up and out. We know this isn't over because we know she'll be back. That single fact alone bodes well for us.

They're not done yet. They've still got some life in them.

Aww, that was so beautiful. And I say that as someone who disliked Izzie for quite a while now. But I loved her in this. Beautiful piece of work!

Hun, you and me both. It's really no secret I'm not an Izzie fan -- whether or not this is my OTP. I write her differently than the writers do, to a degree, and I know that, but I find her much more tolerable afterwards. It's what fanfic is for.

I'm glad you liked this! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

After last episode, I didn't know how to tackle the direct aftermath. More than that, I don't think that the direct aftermath was all that interesting; it's much more fun to throw people back into the mix years later, after people and circumstances have changed.

As for the sparseness, more and more that's just the style that comes out of me naturally -- keeping things short and broken up, puzzle pieces that add up to a larger piece. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that yet.

I'm glad you liked this! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

I love your writing; there's a fluidity and control to it that really astounds me sometimes ( ... )

I'm not an Izzie fan and I haven't been for years. But I am a fan of taking what the writers give us and manipulating it, in fleshing out the half-assed motivations they give her and us. It really is what fanfic is for -- correcting and expanding upon canon.

Alex on the other hand, and really their relationship as well, has always been my big draw to the show and it remains so. I'm on his side and I always will be. So the fact that this was from Izzie's perspective and not his? That's a different thing than I'm used to and honestly I enjoyed the challenge.

And I thank you for the rambling. I'm a rambler by nature -- I can't even leave a simple 'thank you' -- so it's nice to have something to reply to, and more than that it's nice to read an in-depth review. It lets me know what i'm doing right and sometimes what i'm doing wrong. That's a good thing.

So thank you very much for reading and reviewing! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
