I loved this! Despite the Mer/Der. Because you're the only one who can manage to pull it off at this point without annoying me with them.

This is extremely realistic.

She shrugs, tells him, dryly, “I sleep with inappropriate men,” like it’s an excuse.
This cracked me up. Yes. Yes she does.

It’s a lot like Cristina, he figures, a lot like Alex now, again, too, and she gets closer and closer to them as the seasons change and the years blend.
I think it makes sense they would respond this way to Izzie's death. In a way it's always been the interns versus the world, and Derek is on the outside of that.

The blueprints scene. And punctuating the story with the proposal scene. Ouch. You pack quite a punch.

This show, once upon a time, was about these people as a group. They have since fractured. But, when a group loses a member, sometimes they pull together. I think here that's exactly what they would do. And Meredith's always been two steps away from the cold and distant, like Alex, like Cristina -- it wouldn't take much I don't think to thrust her into that.

I'm actually mildly surprised you read this. I would've run the other way because of the Mer/Der, but I'm happy that you took the time to do it anyway. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

i'm a fan of anything different and original and this was. I loved the non-linear style and the dark and twisty of it all. Thanks for sharing

You definitely deserve to be proud of this one. I don't even think I can articulate to you how much I loved it.

The way it was written out of order somewhat really fit with the story. Especially the irony of the ending and how tragic it is to look back after all that you just read and realize that they don't have a clue. I love stories that do that, that contrast the present with the past. You pulled it off beautifully.

I know I've told you on at least one occasion that I really enjoy the idea of Alex being Meredith's Mark, so that little aspect to this story delighted me. As horrible as that may or may not be haha.

I also really liked the fact that it was written in Derek's POV. His realization of the situation almost mirrored my own. It was very well done.

I think the stories that end at the beginning. There's something full circle about that, and I kind of wanted that for this. And yes, you have told me, but I also adore that idea so I definitely don't mind like-minded people.

Choosing Derek's POV, I believe, is what probably makes the story. Meredith's emotions, her POV, it's kind of implied, not that hard to figure out, but I just thought Derek's would be more interesting.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

I don't mind unhappy Mer/Der and I LOVE Mer/Alex so I loved this! I also liked that the segments were out of chronological order. It made me think of how different Derek and Meredith (and Alex) are. Derek lives his life in a more linear fashion (career, dating, sex, marriage, babies,) and does things the way that you are "supposed" to do things. Mer and Alex are all over the place and almost never do the expected thing.

And Alex is right, it has nothing to do with Derek and that makes it almost worse. Once again, poor Alex. My heart breaks for him again and again.

Can't wait for the next one, no matter how angsty!

As long as it's heartbreaking in a good way ;) And picking Derek's POV was definitely a hard decision to make, since I rarely write from his perspective, but I think in the end it was the right one.

I'm glad you liked this! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
