It's not Sawyer/Claire, at least not to the degree I prefer. But I saw the prompt and this is what came up in my head. Sometimes I just can't control what I write.

But I'm really glad you did like this. I know it's the typical Sawyer/Claire, but I really loved the prompt, and I scrapped this about three times to make it perfect. So it means so much to me that you liked it.

For a die hard C/C shipper like me to enjoy some Conmama it has to be pretty darn good - and this was a great pleasure for me to read. I love that despite the fact that Sawyer continually insists within this that he doesn't know what he's doing, he's the only one who actually gets through to her.

It has Charlie/Claire undertones at least, right? lol. I don't write C/C, I just never have been able to, nothing against the ship (obv) at all, but it's kind of present here. Surprisingly.

Sawyer underestimates himself. A lot. And he makes himself out to be the bad guy, tries to be that way too, and he's just not, not really.

It certainly does have C/C undertones and for that I applaud you because I know it's not a ship that you write for.

Exactly. As a general rule his character really rubs me up the wrong way but he has his moments - and this is one of them even if it is fanon =)

Oh, I see what you're doing. First you write fic about the Murdering Rat Bastard, then you try and make up with me by writing Sawyer/Claire...

It totally worked! I love Sawyer/Claire, and I really like this ficlet - Sawyer, resigned to get through to Claire, slowly, gently pressing her and finally succeeding where no one else could. Who would have thought it? Well, me, for one - and you!

It also seems very much in character for both of them. Claire, naturally, would not want to let go, would worry about people forgetting Charlie as they seem to forget everyone who dies on the island. And Sawyer, even if he goes into things thinking only of himself, he usually manages to work his way around to doing the right thing, something for someone else, even if he won't look it square in the eye and admit it.
