They share a room.

The house has three bedrooms, his mother’s, his old one, and what she guesses was his sister’s. Izzie gets the option to sleep in his sister’s but, honestly, her and Alex have slept together so it’s not like sharing a bed is something new and different.

She stays on her side and he stays on his, and somehow it’s not awkward at ( Read more... )

Aww, happy non-Alex/Izzie! At least sorta. I think that if these two could just find their way back to being friends (which is where they started) they might have some kind of chance at something else. Great job!

I agree. The friend thing has to come first. That's the key to mending their fences.

And as I said before, I did not want to write A/I. I wanted that to be different from all the other fluffy fics out there on this topic.

Glad you liked it!

You know, I think the main focus of this show is relationships. Every shade in the human spectrum of sexual, non-sexual, brotherly, sisterly, enemies, frienemies... but lately they've lost sight of everything beyond the sexual. Expect for a select few (Mer/Cristina) the more complicated dynamics have been abandoned in favor of cheap, mostly meaningless sex. They dropped Mer/Alex because it didn't fit into the mold. They bastardized George/Iz to show some skin and elongate the drama. THAT, imo, is their main problem. / end rant.

Well said.

Sexual = ratings. And they've become ratings whores. It's rather unfortunate.

Aw, thanks! I'm glad you thought I did a good job at writing them. Those two are my favorite to write on GA.

Squee! Double Squee! Its friends!A/I but its a start towards more and frankly its true that no one really knows about Alex or cares to stand still enough with him to figure out what exactly there is to know.

Interesting how you add in the fact that Alex once told Jane Doe she reminded him of his sister. Although I never thought that the sister would have followed in the Dad's footsteps. Interesting plot twist.

This was me taking potshots at the writers and their inability to provide backstory for him. Frankly, I'm sick of it.

That comparison between his sister (who's name was Ashleigh, by the way, the name you recommended), and Jane Doe was actually taken mostly from a conversation I had with someone, most likely you. And I figured his sister following in Dad's footsteps would create some conflict and since we don't know anything about her it's not that unbelievable.

I'm starting to wonder about the GA writer's ability to characterize. THey are good at in-the-moment-inthralling-stories, but none that aren't character based (unless of course it is Meredith. But that is expected). THere is no backstory for Alex, very little for Christina, Izzie, and only marginally for Mark, Derek and George.

Maybe it was me, because I remember talking with someone about the sister. ALthough I could have sworn he mentioned something about his sister during the episode-of-doom.

Wow, Alex/Izzie! This is one of the relationships on Greys that really could have worked. But i like this friends thing. Very nice writing, and i like the way you presented this story with the intercuts of what happened before they left in Seattle. Also i like the backstory you made for him.

This was and still is my favorite relationship on GA. But you don't often see them as friends, especially in fics like this, and I wanted to break the mold. I'm glad you liked the past/present thing I had going on, it's a style I'm finding myself liking more and more.

Thanks for reading!
