I love how imaginative this is! :D I'm about to start reading China Mieville's work, I think this is a good incentive!

Mieville's work can be a little difficult to get into at first (my sister keeps saying she has trouble with it), but if you can manage to stick with it, his writing is awesome. :D

A great set up! I Liked the mystery and sense of danger you create and the way you slowly reveal the shape of this new world you have invented. You make Nyota both feisty and vulnerable, a woman of her time and place but one that is evolving. Her struggle with her growing unease with the president and his rule sits uncomfortably with what she has been raised to believe. The mysterious figure of Dr McCoy is intriguing.
