As you might remember if you pay attention to this blog at all, I finished a 65,000 word story recently and sent it off to be traumatized by the great & terrible dina_james . After having a project to do for ten months, I find I'm not sure what to do with myself. I already have a query letter, and can't tweak it until I get the plot revision ideas back with ( Read more... )

Hmm, good question. I mostly follow Robert J. Sawyer's addendum to Heinlein's Rules: Start Working on Something Else.

Sometimes I'll spend a few days flailing around looking for the next project, but once I've found one, I try to forget about the stuff in the mail and just concentrate on what comes next.

Yeah, I should start on my next story, since the plot bunny did deliver it a few months ago. I forgot I had it. :)

Thanks

I have a story in the same world set 40-50 yrs in the future when my 14-yr-old protag is 60ish. It's a sort of a "witch hunt set in near future"

I rewrite. I take a story I haven't seen in awhile, and I say to myself "What was I thinking?"

I use the opportunity to practice my hatchet, machete and replanting skills.

I'm in limbo right now as I wait to hear back about my latest NORMAL edits. I'm staying busy by giving myself revision goals on my next novel and by outlining and researching for NORMAL sequels. Oh, and I'm working on short stories and sending out submissions. Even with all that, it can be hard to stay motivated because I'm dying to find out if those edits work. All I can do is set strict goals and force myself to stay busy, or I'll go crazy.
