Well one can't get mad when Proposition 8 didn't pass when it was the majority that rules. I myself have my idea and I can't get mad because I'm a minority in my idea.
Its depends on where you stand, some people saw what happened to proposition 8 like a giant step forward
Then maybe it's just me.. but I think that it is easy to get mad at. Majority or not, P.8 did get passed -- now the gay and lesbian community can't legally wed. I think they should be able to, I think they should have as many rights as heterosexual people do. If the majority decides that gays can't marry, I say fuck the majority. XD
Everything depends on where one stands... but don't go telling me that it's all about equality when we've just axed the liberties of a certain population.
Yeah, I mean did get passed. I'm not saying they shouldn't, I myself hope they do as they wish if that what the want. Sadly, or fortunately which ever way one sees it, we are in a place where we vote for things and the majority rules. I'm against abortion and when I get a chance I let government know of my opposition to it but I have to accept that its majority that rules.
I come from people who had their religious liberty axed so I understand it pretty much. Some people find that what happened was ok since my religion was wrong while I think I have the right to believe in what I want.
Then perhaps it's the sociologist in me... but I don't believe that we need to accept what the majority says. If we do, then there will never be revolutions, society will never change... seeing how the "majority" is usually the same cohorts of people; and that I will never accept. Can I do much to change it? Maybe, maybe not. But will I have to "accept" it, no, I don't think so. If we accept what the majority says all the time, women will never get equal pay, non-whites will never get equal opportunity. By not accepting majority rules, change comes... by always accepting the majority, this is what happens - backlash. *shrugs*
