Raising funds for Prop 8

JP posted a great idea, and I'm pimping it here.

If we're going to keep fighting for equality, we'll need to raise more funds. JP suggests gathering at someone's house for a potluck dinner, and donating the money we would've spent dining-out towards the cause.

JP says:

That's a nice concept - I'm intrigued...except who would the money go to? Is there a "No on 8" campaign anymore, now that the election is over? And I have to confess I'm a little hesitant giving that crew any more of my pennies after what they did with the $30-something million they had for the election campaign...

The funds will go to Equality California. They have a donation form to help overturn Prop 8 (it's not linked directly from the website just yet)

I would humbly propose considering this group instead, who appear to be more reflective of the post Prop 8 campaign happenings. It looks like no one in the "Courage Campaign" had anything to do with the No on 8 campaign...

Thanks for the pimping. Mikey!

I do want to make it clear that, even if somebody can't cook, they can still participate. This isn't the potluck diner party of the 50's; it's meant to be casual and inexpensive so that we can put the money saved into a donation jar.

Not that I would argue or complain if Henry made any of his most fabulous desserts ;-)
