turns out I am getting some tax money back after all, I am going to take a plunge and get myself a camera after all these years. What kind of relatively inexpensive camera can you reccommend for a technophobic novice like myself. I want to spend in the neighborhood of $200.
My current Olympus will be the THIRD digital camera that I've tried in-between Canons, and I'm ditching it to get yet another Canon.
The other models I've tried take okay pictures -- but I've never had such ease-of-use, great warranty, great interface, and much better *above-average* pictures like I have with my Canon cameras.
After three other tries, I've leared my lesson and will stick with them.
(Having said that, don't EVER buy Canon consumer mini-DV video cameras -- I had a MISERABLE experience with one)
Thanks for posting this info. I almost bought a Casio (enticed by the larger screen). I ended up buying a Canon A710 and A640 instead. For digital SLRs I've stuck to Nikon.

I passed on the 10MP Casio and opted for the 7MP instead; it got slightly better reviews and was $40 cheaper to boot .

There is an array of models, all at different prices. In San Diego, I found that Best Buy had the most models to compare.
