Parties and walking

The disco-funk party at Homer Place was quite a lively affair, with a mixture of people old and new -- it was a shame I had to leave early to catch the last Orbiter at midnight because things were still going strong. On the other hand, this did mean that I managed to get a decent amount of sleep for once. (marsden_online has pictures online)

Sunday saw me joining purpledragon3, anarchangel23 and lilenigma for an expedition to the Sign of the Packhorse via the track from Gebbies Pass. Nervousness over petrol levels resulted in a delay to the start of walking after we returned to refuel, and we didn't get under way on the track until nearly 18:00. Fortunately, we made rather better time than several sources indicated, and we reached the hut in a little over 90 minutes. Following a picnic, our return trip took something under 90 minutes despite the vicious side of nature managing to compromise the integrity of my integument and force me to take a short sticking-plaster break. We got back to the car just as darkness was starting to fall in earnest.

Photos of the walk can be found at http://sloth.geek.nz/090111_index.html -- perhaps I'm managing to ease myself back into photo page production...

Tomorrow will see me busy with editing work. 'tis a shame to lose a day from my weekend, but the money will doubtless come in useful.
