May I now present a condensed representation of my existence in Indiana:

My radio: The 99p Challenge
My co-worker’s radio: Larry the Cable Guy

My lunch: homemade pasta with rosemary, garlic and oil
My co-worker’s lunch: mega hot wings* from Lucky’s Donuts

SIGH.

It would be more that the hot wings are from the DOUGHNUT SHOP that I'd have issues with...

When I was driving back from Texas, I saw a truck with "GTRDONE" for a license plate. I almost cried.

This is why, when I'm driving with my windows down, I feel obliged to turn down the radio (which is always playing the regional public radio station), because I know that blaring classical music or Fresh Air or any of the other intellectually stimulating fare is going to attract negative attention here in my nominally-Democratic Indiana town.

Wake me when I live somewhere else.
