So, here's the thing. I have this desk calendar that I bought on a whim. It's the Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook calendar. I took it to work, and each day, I would tell all my co-workers what to do in case a wild boar attacked them in the parking lot, or they were kidnapped by evil clowns. I love it.
Sadly, when I lost that job, the calendar came home, and sat forlorn and forgotten on my home desk, under a pile of other paperwork. Then, one day, an idea occurred to me: there was a story behind every one of these. And I knew what I had to do.
Thus, I propose the Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook Multi-Fandom Fic Challenge, aka WCSSHMFFC, aka Whooshmphk (if you're me).
The rules are pretty simple:
- Any fandom is welcome to participate. Any pairing, genre, theme, mood, font, whatever... it's totally up to the participant.
- Each participant will get assigned one (and ONLY one) worst-case scenario about which to write; however, participants are free to write as many stories as they wish.
- The scenario should play at least some role in the story; characters directly involved in the scenario themselves, talking about it happening to someone else, etc. Some scenarios might seem more mundane/difficult/whatever, but participants are (obviously) encouraged to be creative. I have faith in you.
- Each story should be a minimum five hundred words. Stories should be completed and posted to the location of the participant's choice no later than September 18, 2005. Also, I will make a post on that day in which participants can link to their stories.
- Comment to this post if you'd like to play. Sign-up period ends Sunday, August 7th, and participants should have their assignments by the following Monday. Pimping is always welcome, and all pimps are adored FOREVAH! *bats lashes*

ETA: Holy fuck, people. I mean, honestly. We're at 214 people right now. I do NOT have that many scenarios, so... I'm gonna have to double up (or perhaps triple up, depending on the final tally) on scenarios. Hopefully, with as many fandoms as we have represented and the number of talented and creative people playing, there shouldn't be any problems with that.
But seriously. HOLY FUCK.
