Comic-Con vs. Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church.

Awesome.

I don't understand the 'Magnets' protest sign, though. Is there some connection between Fred Phelps and the juggalos that I am unaware of?

Well, magnets are miracles, ergo, God. Something like that.

Seriously, I think it's just random/cultural/Internet humor, like the signs that say "Have you seen my keys?" and "Is this thing on?" Pictures like these warm my heart.

The magnets sign is a reference to the 'Teaching magnetism to juggalos' episode. MeFi has the relevant links. I just don't understand how it ties in with Fred Phelps. I suppose it means something like, 'The Westboro Baptist Church is as stupid as juggalos'. Personally, I think that's an insult to juggalos.

Yes, I know the song and I've seen the videos, because I'm not culturally illiterate.

As I was saying, I don't think every sign has to tie in with Fred Phelps. It's frequency jamming. The more people that show up and hold signs that don't have any meaning, the less discernable Fred's signs are.

I'll be interested to see if the Westboro freaks show up here for DragonCon...if they do they'd be met with a similar response, I'm hoping the entire Storm Trooper contingent chases them down - parade day there are nearly 200 that march enmasse down Peachtree Street.

We did have a couple individual odd religious fanatics show up at the parade last year. Large signs, one guy with a bullhorn was particularly annoying. The Con crowd & parade regulars mostly ignored them, although a few did marshall forces and try to engage them in rational discourse, to no avail.
