Monday morning was my second appointment with the new therapist, which looks like it'll work out well: comfortable rapport, a good active listener, walking distance from home, health insurance-friendly (thank gods). We were going through hour 2 of a lengthy background info-gathering process, rifling through family health and sexual history and all ( Read more... )

I am so happy for you. *hugs*

My therapist diagnosed me with ADHD as well. But my psychdoc wouldn't put me on meds, because it might cause my bipolar to jump out of control. I sincerely hope you are able to find something that helps you.

Hey, that's excellent! (The thing where you have concrete info on *why* is so helpful. Suddenly it's not just a personal issue that you're wholly responsible for, I guess? I've had similar things and the feeling was, "oh, that wasn't a moral failing, or some such? It had a *reason*?" and it's like fresh air into a stale room.)

Best of luck with the continued navigation of all things medical and paperwork-y. Aie. But I hope it works out very well in the end! :)

*Fingers crossed* and wishing you the best possible outcome. *Big Hugs*

That is really exciting! I'm happy for you. I've seen the meds make a real difference in the lives of lots of people. Oh, and there's this great book - "You mean I'm not Lazy, Stupid or Crazy?" that's good as well.

My sister-in-law and niecephews have ADHD. From the perspective of a loved one, the difference between meds and no meds is amazing. Congratulations on having an answer, and good luck with your navigation, Dr. Heyerdahl. *HUGS*
