The loonie is our dollar. I'm guessing it's lucky because he blessed it with maple syrup while doing a jig to god of hockey. Or maybe he just made a wish. :)

I'm shocked I didn't know the Loon was on the Canadian dollar. In my youth I spend summer at my grandparents cottage on Lake Umbagog (on the NH/Maine border) I used to row out at sunset just to hear the Loon cries such :)
