So, I've reached the They Might Be Giants portion of my cd listening project (in which I listen to all of my cds in alphabetical order). This means I'll be listening to TMBG until, oh, 2007. It's a good thing I didn't go crazy with the EPs, eh ( Read more... )

Is it sad that I didn't realize that that was tmbg?

And Peter Stomare in those VW commercials is great.

I didn't realize it was TMBG in the "Plether" one, but I think the "Packing Up Stuff" one is pretty obvious.

I haven't seen the Peter Stormare VW ones yet.

The 'pleather' one really reminded me of an old Offspring song.

Interesting that none of the spots seem to feature doughnuts.

They mention the doughnut thing in the Slate article. They say they sell way more coffee than doughnuts, so they see themselves more in competition with Starbucks than Krispy Kreme.

In fact, they don't mention D&D at all.

Um, sorry, but in my world, that means "Dungeons and Dragons." ;)

I had no idea that that theme song was by TMBG, but I have to say that it annoys me by getting stuck in my head. "Doing things is what I like to do -- yes!" UGGHHHHHHH!

Actually, I only called it D&D because the guy and Slate did, and he said it was a Massachusetts thing!

It gets stuck in your head because it's SO DAMN CATCHY! Yes!

No, you are right -- it is totally a Massachusetts thing to call Dunkins "D&D." But, technically, it's inaccurate since it's not "Dunkin AND Donuts." And I was just being a dork.

It is the catchiest song ever!! It's like conjunctivitis.

That sucks. I can see how that can get old real fast. I actually have never seen the "Doing Stuff" commerical on TV. I just keep seeing the "Ton of Stuff" and the "Plether" ones. But I don't watch baseball, so that's probably why.

I haven't seen that one, and it's not on the blog. I feel like I'm missing out on something awesome!
