So thinking about this over the weekend, I realized I would never again read, write, hear, or speak a sentence as good as this one:

"Show your cock," she says, and dies again.

It's from the story "Sea Oak"* in Pastoralia by George Saunders, and it's the best thing I read in my four years of being an English major ( Read more... )

My list would include Say Anything, Fargo, and Birdy for sure, but I would add Magnolia, which might be my absolute favorite ending ever, and 25th Hour if the entire last 5-10 minutes counts as an ending.

I teared up at the end of "Say Anything." Yes, I'm manly enough to admit it damnit! That's becuase I saw it a month after a so-called "relationship" had ended last year, but it was a great ending. I also actually liked the ending of "Garden State" while a lot of people didn't...I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff. And what is a movie list for me compelte without some reference to "Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Kahn." That was the perfect death scene/hope for the future/they can bring back a character thing. Back when it came out in 1982, people cried, and/or then stood up and cheered at that ending.

"Ray" I liked it a lot, I felt they could have done more. Like all the stuff in the second half of his life. I got really into it, and then it was like "I want more!"

Ever see "The Seventh Seal?" I really liked the ending oth at film as well.
