I [Maple Leaf] Canada

So, by now you all know that I pretty much hate Webster Hall. Then why did I go there twice in less than a week? Canadians! Last week was the New Pornographers, and last night was the Weakerthans. Both good shows. Let's see how they compare.

Personality
The New Pornographers: There's almost too much personality to be contained by one supergroup. ( Read more... )

Canadians??!! Are you really my sister? Also, I'd like to know how you feel about the fact that Rilo Kiley is becoming mainstream and being played on MTV?

Hey, on the whole, Canadians are WAY cuter than Philadelphians! :P

I was actually hoping that Rilo Kiley would be a bigger mainstream hit. I'm afraid the band is going to break up unless they become a big success. Jenny Lewis gets more press/acclaim on her own (which is unfair and not entirely deserved--she's really good, but so is Blake!), and I feel like she needed the Rilo Kiley album to be a huge hit to give her incentive to not just go solo. Cross your fingers that they don't break up!

Heh....that's ironic because the song I like the most is called "breaking up". Even though it needs more cowbell. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they become a mega success.

remember how you put "reconstruction site" on my graduation mix and the line "buy me a shiny new machine that runs on lies and gasoline" made me cry 4 times while i was re-painting my bedroom? or maybe i never told you that, but i'm telling you now.

these both sound like great shows.

and all those batteies we took from smoke alarms!

I don't know if you told me that, but my goal on that mix was to make you cry (that sounds mean, but I mean cry in a good way, and that was my goal the year before with the graduation mixes, too) so mission accomplished! Reconstruction Site is the best song ever.
