So... I have dirty dishes to wash and beta to do and grocery shopping and personal hygiene to tend to, so I spent the last hour or two fumbling around with my new *insert squee here* mac, making a quick and dirty (though, sadly, G-rated) and "Gee, what does that button do? Yay for podfic!

As the proud-but-oblivious owner of a Mac who is going to start recording audiofic, what did you use? I think I can use GarageBand but that seems a bit elaborate for my needs, and I'm very ignorant as to how the whole podfic recording thing works. Any tips/suggestions?

Oh my. Completely the blind leading the blind here, but I just fired up GarageBand, and it asked me to choose between several choices including "podcast." I chose podcast, then "female voice" then clicked the little red circle to start recording. Then I tried not to stumble over the words, and clicked the little red circle again at the end ( ... )

*g* Thanks for the instructions; I was very impressed! Unfortunately I think my GarageBand is fucked up, because when I start the program I only get instrumentation choices (no vocals). I have recorded five or six stories, but with no way to edit them or improve the sound quality I'm not sure when I can put them up. Thanks for the support and links, however. If I can ever figure out how to fix GarageBand I'll be a podfic master!

I've got another podfic around here somewhere. In my fic index or by clicking the audiofic tag, if you're interested. And I also have a list of dS podfic (audiofic tag or the due south podfic index tag) if you want to seek out some of the (excellent, though not enough) existing dS podfic. Although I don't think I've updated to include mondschein1's new one, which I am very excited about. Because YAY podfic, especially hers.
