I love the different perspectives and readings we bring to these texts. I actually don't share your condemnation of Billy that you expanded in your next post. But, golly, I adore you for making me think about them and try to pin down their dynamic.

Hee. I don't actually hate Billy, I just think he definitely should get half the blame for everything that happens while Joe is still alive, +1 for the signoff. What condemnation I have for him is really mostly a reaction to me seeing a lot of fan commentary that blames Joe more heavily than it blames Billy, and they're BOTH totally screwed up. They are, together, the tragic hero of HCL. My take on it is, neither of them is nice, and neither of them is innocent, and by golly, Billy deserves to get roasted every now and again, too.

I am reading again and loving this again! MMM. Beat each other up some more, boys. It's hot.
