How Important Are Conventions to You?

That was an eerie bit of silence, wasn't it? One thing about Comic-Con, it makes everything just stop for a while, and as much as I want to keep up the blog, it doesn't work out. Comic-Con is a huge undertaking, not in the least because it takes the efforts of every single person in the office, plus a few ringers brought in to kick ass at the booth ( Read more... )

I haven't attended SDCC yet, but I plan to next summer and I would be very sad to not see a SLG booth since I'd be traveling 3794 miles to get there.

I agree with the other posters in that fans like to see the artists/creators of the comics they love and if they meet a writer they would be more likely to purchase a comic.

I wouldn't stop going to the con, but maybe downsize the amount of people you send out in some way so it's not so hard on everyone.

You'd be missed. It's great to be able to meet face to face not only the creators but the rest of the folk who made it possible, but there's always other cons. I don't know how much time and money goes into the other conventions SLG attends, but should SLG forgo SDCC will the focus be upon the smaller conventions? What about NYCC?

I've been going for the past four or five years (or is it 6? I don't know anymore), and I have to say that I always look forward to the SLG booth. True, I do it to pester my friends who are at the table(s), but SLG also happens to have some really great creators on their hands that make it out for the convention. I think my day was made several times by visits to the SLG booth and I definitely had the most fun at that booth. If ya'll didn't come back, the comic-con would be a less memorable and sadder experience for us all.

Personally, Down were I live there aren't many comic book shops. Hopefully, Next Sand Diego Convention I will finally be able to see a variety of publishers and creators that I would have never met before. For example: I've never even heard of the company IDW because of where I live...

So it would be a shame if comic book conventions stopped going in general. Also, its really nice to finally be able to meet up with the people who made my favorite comics. It makes conventions so much more enjoyable.

Dude. If SLG didn't go to conventions, that would be a huge chunk of cool removed from the comic con atmosphere.

Would I like to see a DC sized SLG booth dominating the con, with a variety of awesome books rather than gobs of superhero books dominating the floor? Of course. So to be consistent, even as a fan I want SLG to be at comic con, and I have to keep hoping for the best.

As a creator, of course I want SLG to be at conventions because I'm a cheapskate and would have to try to sell comics from my trench coat at conventions otherwise.
