John "Three Continents" Watson 1/?

A/N: This is my first fill, and is for this prompt. Here goes!

Women had always liked John Watson.

Maybe it was his understated appearance. Maybe it was his easygoing grin and steady hands. Maybe it was his sturdy build and his protective nature.

Whatever it was, women adored it. As a child, his friend's mothers would coo at him over his precious blue eyes and toothy smile. They'd give him an extra cookie and top off his glass of milk when the other childrens' backs were turned, and their older sisters wouldn't be as rude to him as they were to everyone else. In his college years, John would constantly find the area around his desk and locker to be swarming with girls. They'd bat their eyelashes and toss their hair, and sometimes he'd chat one up and get her number. They'd go out for a while, but before long the cycle would start again. Later on, in his time at Uni, he'd take a new girl back to his dorm room every week, save for the occasional steady relationship. Those would last for a couple months, and then he'd be single again.

All throughout his life, old ladies doted on him and his dates crooned at his cable-knit jumpers. And all along, he basked in the attention.

Now that he was back from Afghanistan, though, it was a bit different. He still went on dates, and he was still loved by the entire female populace, but it felt... lesser, almost. As if it wasn't enough, and never would be. He subsequently fell into a pit of depression and misery.

Of course, then he had met Mike Stamford on his walk and, one thing leading to another, he was introduced to one Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock was the smartest person he had ever been in the prescence of, and he had been in awe the moment the man had laid out his life story at his feet. He reigned in his attraction to the self-proclaimed consulting detective after it was made clear that his interest wasn't reciprocated. However, as of late something seemed... off at Baker Street. Sherlock had become increasingly cold and distant, and if John didn't know better he'd say it was due to his recent string of girlfriends and one-night stands. Of course, he shut this thought down immediately after it occurred because, obviously, he did know better.

And it infuriated him that he still thought about Sherlock in that way.
