For me (and I know this is going against the accepted Radiohead gospel) my favorite albums go something like:
1) The Bends
2) OK Computer
3) Kid A/Amnesiac
4) Hail To The Thief/In Rainbows
5) Pablo Honey

I just like them better when they put their muscle towards songcraft with some experimentation instead of experimentation with some songcraft.

I did like it, but I'm a pretty diehard radiohead fan. The big hype was the sales model, not the music.

Ok, I shall clarify, there was big hype in the *mainstream* media about the sales model.

The mainstream media also put the Jonas Brothers' album in the top 50 albums of the year.

barfo...

I'm just saying, the source I trust taste-wise couldn't keep from busting in their pants every time somebody said "in rainbows" and it was nowhere near as interesting as they made it sound.

Haha. Ah, Pabst. It's one of my friend John's favorite beers. To be fair, it's probably the best tasting shitty beer I've personally had. (And living in Ocean City, let me tell ya, I'm pretty much a shitty beer expert.)

And truth be told, I kind of agree with you about In Rainbows. I mean, I definitely LOVE a few songs on it, and I still think it's a decent album, but it was definitely overhyped.

You've got an interesting list of favorites, and it's considerably different from mine:

Albums I listen to!
1) Amnesiac
2) HttT/Kid A
3) OK Computer
4) In Rainbows

Albums I DON'T.
5) The Bends
6) Pablo Honey

I personally like their weirder, slightly electronic stuff. A lot of people scoff when I say that Amnesiac is my favorite, but it's got some GREAT songs on it! It's probably not the 'deepest' album, or the most intensely complicated, musically speaking. It just happens to be the one I listen to most often.

I feel a little guilty about OK Computer being so far down, but honestly, I've just worn it out. It was my ( ... )

Yeah, I don't listen to OK Computer anymore either. I wore it out too. But I still *feel* the same way about it as an album, hence its high rank. Honestly I don't put The Bends on these days either. I have too much music I haven't heard yet to be replaying old hits. And yeah, Pablo Honey is super boring now. Even when it was all they'd put out, it wasn't so super great; I was really into like 4 of the songs and the rest I'd sort of blank out during. But when The Bends came out it was like THIS is what real songs are like!!! But hey, I get it; you think good songs are yawnable. Duly noted!

Amnesiac has my favorite special edition packaging. I wish bands would do their packaging with that level of creativity more often. It's a friggin' library book with a cd in the back pocket!
