Our can't do government

I suspect that the impact from Hurricane Katrina is going to be a lot more than people are now realizing. Every estimate says its probably going to be months before the city of New Orleans can even be pumped dry, to say nothing of fixing the damage once thats done. The hard reality is that THIS government is not going to take care of us, and any model of collective self-care that's any better than what we currently have is by its nature a de facto government.

So what we need is not less government, or no government, but simply a DIFFERENT government - one not run by corporate interests but dedicated to the needs of the American people - and for that, sadly, we need a revolution.

I agree, of course, but right now what we need to do is to deal with the current emergency. I'm focusing on the practical at the moment.
