Dinner Party From Hell - Saturday Evening, 44 Blueberry Hill

Nov 15, 2008 12:21

This was probably not one of Phoebe's better ideas. She meant well, and you know how that saying goes about hearts being in the right places? Yeah, that was what this one was, and why it was destined to be a disaster -- even if nobody was about to say that to Phoebe ( Read more... )

Phoebe and Piper had been working most of the day -- mostly Piper because Phoebe kept having to rest -- to make the house look ready for a dinner party. Yes, there were a few aby things around the place. Phoebe had given up taking them all out of the lower part of the house when the boys wibbled at her.

Veronica showed up early, carrying a couple of pies.

"So, imminent unmitigated disaster?"

Phoebe stuck out her bottom lip slightly. "I hope not. I want this to be a nice evening for Isabel and her fiance... Jesse."

"Oh, please," Veronica said, giving Phoebe a look. "I know that pregnancy hasn't messed with your brain cells. You know damn well that Isabel isn't happy with this guy."

The dining room is set up beautifully with all of the chairs pulled around the table for the night. (The two high chairs have been relegated to the nursery, much to the dismay of the fathers to be). There were candles lit around the room and the table was set with some of the best dishes that Piper and Phoebe had brought from the Manor.

There's plenty of good food, compliments of Piper, and several choices of things to drink.

Isabel didn't drink. But the unexpected dinner guest was enough to make her look longingly at the bottle of wine.

Wyatt, on the other hand, cheerfully had a glass of wine. Or two. Maaaaaybe even three. "So why don't we have a toast," he said. "You know, to the reason for this gathering."

"That's not necessary. Really!" Isabel said immediately. She'd been watching Wyatt refill his glass over the course of the evening and just knew that there was no way this would work out well.
