So this morning at Screenwriting we watched London to Brighton, a low-budget British film that was pretty much brilliant, at least as far as the writing was concerned. I loved the cinematography as well, and the performances were fantastic. It's a bit brutal for some, deals with prostitution and the despair of being on the streets, underage ( Read more... )

I want to take a screen writing class! What do you do in there besides watch movies?

This was the first time we actually watched a whole movie in-class. We've watched scenes in the past to see how they work (or how they don't) script-wise, but never an uninterrupted feature film. There's usually not enough time for that.

We basically talk about the elements of a script, about the process of honing an idea into a screenplay, terminology, technique, how the industry works. He doesn't really tell us how to write a script per se, but he gives us guidelines, suggestions, small nudgews. I think it's been really awesome this far, it has really helped me take a few liberties with my writing, and the workshops have helped me figure out what doesn't work and stuff and fix that (although people are too nice, as usual, and constructive criticism is rare but great when it's actually genuine).

Hey there :)

So, interests: very very danger!, thessaloniki (I love this city), 동방신기 (lol, I have no idea what that is) and teh_weasle.

Also, I didn't know you like kommissar rex! I loved that show so so much (even though I was a bit too young to watch it *g*).

Hahaha, the interests you picked.

REX WAS FREAKING GENIUS! There's no lower age limit on it, I think it was pretty family-friendly.
Who did you like more, first guy or second guy? IMO, first guy >>>>>> second guy. I was so sad when he died D:
