Saw Dr. Flack today about his DIY wind turbine fourth year project (making small scale wind turbines as cheaply as possible out of things like drain pipes and scrap car parts). I think I did a better job at being enthusiastic than for other projects so hopefully there's a good chance I'll get this one which would be AWESOME!!! I could get to spend

They look incredibly cool and slightly unnerving. Maybe you could make a tiny one out of matchsticks and somehow rubber band powered?

Sounds good to me pottering about in an engine shed. Somehow, you remind me of that crazy guy in the scrap heap challenge. I think that's the real reason why you like mechnical engineering - rubbing shoulders with greasy, hairy and looney men!!
