so someone from seventeen magazine wrote to me today, telling me that they really liked my zine and asking me all these questions about myself and my writing. i don't know whether to be amused or horrified, but right now, i'm a little of both.

haha well i don't think that all the staff are uppity middle class old people... so i'm not surprised that someone from there would take interest considering the zine culture is seemingly getting more and more attention (remember the delia "book"... haha "emo zines"!).

erika, was it like, "hi i work at seventeen i picked up your zine" or "hi i work at seventeen i'm working a story about zines."

maybe they just think they are hot shit for working at seventeen? or that you would give a shit about it?

it said "we here at seventeen magazine dig your zine". it was the collective "we" that made me nervous. they made a point of telling me that they were the deputy editor, which seems like something they would try to downplay if they were just some average reader of zines who just happens to work for seventeen, y'know?

according to ericka, they were scouting out zines written by teenagers for some sort of feature. i'm intrigued.

I am pretty sure that your mission never was to get recognized by Seventeen but if they are writing a story on zines and your's was the best one out there a congrats is due. CONGRATS!

aside from that...

ee, seventeen? i'd be pleasantly amused, but then, is there a negative way to be amused? uh, ok. maybe the magazine has hip/cool 'scouts' such as those featured in the horrifying pbs merchants of cool documentary. at least your zine is actually cool, though!

and lordy! i feel so bad about not having sent you the zines yet. i had to copy some more and sewing the spines never got accomplished in between school and work. eek. but they're going out this week. and i'm sending you a surprise to apologize for making you wait so long.
