Thanks! I've had this one mostly done for 2 months now, just figured out how to end it last week. I'm glad you liked it.

Oh...you GOT me! I was NOT expecting that!!!!
Poor woman...but GOD, poor JOHN, another woman he couldn't save!
And I very much like that little tie in to the show with him on the phone to the boys.

I was also kinda playing on the comment he made in Salvation too, "I've never gotten there in time to save..." Technically he saved Jordan from the initial visit, but in the end he didn't save her.

Wasn't expecting the ending. No rest for the Winchesters, uh?
Poor Jordan, to be so close to salvation, in a way, someone that can teach her, that can explain to her much more than she knows, and to be taken/killed anyway.

thanks!

According to Cannon, John never found another woman... as much as I love the AU stuff, in this I prefere to stick (mostly) to cannon. Though I do seem to keep getting John laid.

Well, the poor man probably had needs! It's a humanitarian mission, really. :)

And I think that there is so much of John that we don't know, the one sure thing is that he never married again, and that he still loves Mary best...but he may have felt affection and desire for someone else at times, who knows.

Well, yeah, I can't imagine that he spent 22 years celibate, but given his behavior I can't see him getting emotionally attached to anyone. Sam and Dean's inability to believe John was in a relationship with Ellen is the most obvious support for that theory. Although I have seen it done well in fanfic, and done it a time or two myself.

Oh that was brilliant....loved the ending... loved that you tied it so closely to canon. The call to the boys, the way you fit this into the time line.

If I can comment on a previous conversation you had with Phantomas? I think since Sam "met" Mary in Lawrence in the ep Home, she would have a far more "real" presence for him than earlier in the series. Losing John, feeling the guilt that he does about the way he constantly fought him may have contributed to his desire to express his grief by visiting Mary's grave and taking to the Hunt with a passion that John would have approved of. JMHO.

Thank you for a great story!
