I'm perfectly aware of how lovely Smother can be. Why do you think it pisses me off so much when she treats you like crap? That's the difference between your mother and mine. Yours has the potential to be a wonderful mother, whereas mine will never be better than what she is now. I know, she's tried but it's really rather pathetic and hollow when she does and it just feels like a whole lot of too little too late.

As for the mechanics, have you considered getting a car that isn't a VW? Yes I know you currently have no money but I think it's something worth considering.

Mazdas are exceptionally good quality cars, as long as they are looked after, regularly serviced and not thrashed. It sounds like your veedub is likely to become a bottomless money pit over the next year or so...
