[Buffy is sitting outside one of the window's of house forty-seven, despite the rain. Her back is against the wall and she looks over her shoulder every so often--an uncertain frown bending her mouth. The room was empty and it was going to be empty every time she looked into it, no matter how much she expected otherwise ( Read more... )

[He just heard, so he knows who Buffy's talking about, and his reply is understanding.]

She's a strong young woman surrounded with friends and people who love her. Not to mention, she's your sister. She'll be fine.

[Wesley would appreciate the lack of attacking if he was aware.]

That's empowering, isn't it? To know you made such a massive choice and that it was . . . not being there I don't want to say "the right thing" or "the right choice," but certainly good.

Definitely the right thing. I felt it, when I jumped. No regret, no fear. Just...rightness. A lot of it, too.

[And then they dragged me back. But she doesn't write that one down.]

I think a lot of people would be very envious of that.

I took my bow, Wesley. I was at peace with the choice and then that rug was yanked out from underneath me. Nothing was negated, just...it felt less right, coming back.

[Wesley can now relate with that, but he doesn't say that because it would feel shallow.]

What about all the good you've done since that time?

You mean the part where the balance of everything was horribly upset by the Slayer line being torn apart, or the part where did the whole destructive really-bad-idea relationship and ignored everyone else? It wasn't all roses in Sunnydale.

A lack of roses seems to be par for the course for the . . . group, for lack of a better word, that originated out of Sunnydale during your time in high school.

I can't be certain about any relationships one way or another, but I would think the good you've done since then has outweighed the trials you may have placed on one another, no?

And, if you recall, that balance was upset the moment Miss Kendra was called. Perhaps that was a sign that the order as the world had come to know it was soon to be broken completely.
