Can't 'magine it gets that much use; glorified decoration?

I make sure it gets used. I've even played a few rounds myself. [A long time ago. With Jack Sparrow.]

What kind of non-alcoholics drinks would you suggest? [Winry usually steers clear of the bar because of the alcohol. Even though she's had tea there. Once.]

Smoothies? Or I've always loved a nice Shirley Temple. Virgin daiquiris are also super delish. I don't drink so, y'know...I'm definitely the girl to go for when it comes to alternatives.

I never imagined Zack getting into the bar tending business.

[dat voice.

Buffy has a mini-panic to herself before--as composedly as she can--answering:] No one would say I was suited to it, either. But I got the hiring memo from Guy, so...I guess so.

[S'up my vampire slaying bff? Miss me?] Now I'm a little jealous. He's stealing my job.

You said your name was Buffy, right? I'm Tifa Lockhart, I just arrived here a few days ago.

[Yes. Yes, very much.]

Believe me, in a place this twisted? There can never be enough bartenders. [Huff. Okay. This is going well.] Hi, Tifa. Nice to meet you.

[It has been a couple of weeks since Jack has spent any large amount of time around the village. Work on the boat has kept him very busy by the lake.

And the recent adventures in hijacking provided a pleasant--mostly--respite from the shipwrighting. Except when things weren't so pleasant.

Tonight Jack enters the pub quietly, and finds himself a back table where he can be alone. He seems to be walking rather stiffly, as though injured, though he is not quite limping. And to be honest, he doesn't care that he is supposed to be avoiding this place. He needs rum. Badly.]

[Buffy is tidying behind the counter when she catches his entrance. At first, she seems to drop something heavily back onto the countertop. Then, she becomes deeply preoccupied in righting said dropped item. Nervous, almost. Like this was the last thing she had expected of this evening.

Deep breaths. Deep breaths. It's not like she can just...refuse to serve him. That doesn't sit comfortably with her. So she stonily pours out some rum and slips from behind the bar. She gets about half-way to his table before it seems she changes her mind. Frowning, Buffy twists and returns to the bar. She leans over from the patron side and fishes for something--ah!--and then once again approaches Jack's table.

She had gone back for the rest of the bottle, which she now heavily places next to the also newly delivered glass.]

Didn't think you'd---

Thanks.

[He raises the glass silently, as though saluting someone who is not present, and drinks.]

Well, barmaid. [She jabs a thumb at herself. The tone carries a lot. It rings rather familiarly to Jack's own use of the moniker pirate to explain a lot of what he does. And it holds behind it a great deal of Buffy's own fierce dedication to getting certain jobs done. But--perhaps most cruelly--it also suggests that what she is doing is above and beyond their own, personal squabbles. Not about them.]
