Booklist: Quirky Characters

May 03, 2008 16:10

Quirky is good in my book. Whenever someone calls me quirky, I say, "Thank you."

My favorite quirky girls in contemporary teen lit include:

Emily in Tips for Having a Gay (Ex) Boyfriend and Love (and Other Uses for Duct Tape) by Carrie Jones

Tess in Lost It by Kristen Tracy

Alice MacLeod in Alice, I Think and the books which follow it by Susan Juby

Oh! What about D.J. in The Dairy Queen? Such an odd, interesting character...

I liked D.J. well enough, but she's not one of my favorites. I do have her on my Hey There, Sports Fan booklist!

What a fabulous list! Some of these I haven't read, but now I want to solely because of quirky characters. I've never been called quirky but would definitely consider it a compliment. :-) And I love that you included Anne Shirley...she's such a spunky character.

And never, ever mock Anne's hair color AND tug on her braid!
