THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Oh my GOD, these are better than I even imagined - and i have a darn good imagination. *lol* I love these - LOVE these! How in the world - that texture - I just want to sit and study these banners like paintings in a gallery.
I'm tickled that you chose that image of Buffy - that's the one used in an icon I've snagged but I couldn't bring myself to work with the image myself. All the pain in the world....the texture works almost like a lens, focusing and blurring at the same time.
Perfect banners are perfect.
(And I'm just noticing the faint shadow on the text that makes it stand out just a bit - I assume that's a specific text effect in PSE?)
Congratulations again on your wins and to sweet_lyri; just a really wonderful round.
So glad you like them, sweetie it was your first place icon that inspired the light/blue texture effect. I went searching for one especially and then used a radial blur on the edges of the Buffy image layers to add to the effect. Just adore your 1st place icon! ALL your icons were fabulous this round actually, you are making more and more gorgeous work all the time :):)

WHAT? SRSLY? You know how very much I admire your work to start with, right?
**fresh helping of SQUEE with side of delirious joy and sprinkling of utter disbelief**
If my work inspired you I'm truly honored - and it's ironic because my first place icon was specifically inspired by clockwork_hart1's icons (along with velvetwhip and teragramm); I'm super-pleased to be "part of the chain". :D
And thank you for the compliments - I'm just blushing again.
And yes that a low shadow fx in PSE :)
I've tried for similar shadow effect with font in ipiccy simply by adding additional layers of text in different colors/filters but it's always going to have that hard edge UNLESS - I add a layer of text, take it over to soften/blur, select only the text, then go back to layers mode and add the top layer of text. Guess how likely that's gonna be?
Oh yes! I used to create shadows like that - and I sometimes do still use lots of layers on text with blurred ones beneath crisp ones if I want a certain look :)
You're so very welcome - I loved that icon, it was my pick for best crop and I also loved the pale tones in the image against the pale background. Gorgeous :)
