To play Buffy, anyway.
BIG NO. I don't like her, in general. To have her play Buffy would make me want to stake myself.
If I could cast anyone in this movie (assuming they're using the same characters as the original film), here's who would be on my list.
Buffy - Kristen Bell, Dianna Agron, Adrianne Palicki, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Emma Bell,

I want something like that. Obviously not an entire team, but I think my favorite scene in the series is when Riley leaves Buffy in the alley, and she's suddenly surrounded by seven or eight vampires and takes them all out by herself because she's pissed off.
But I want this Buffy to have a life outside of slaying. She has to pay for food and bills somehow, and it's too fairy tale for her to have a wealthy watcher.

Well, I was actually talking to a friend of mine last night and we were thinking maybe Joseph Gordon-Levitt. But that's mostly because we were listening to his cover of Major Tom.
I mostly added Keanu to my list of DNWs for Merrick because I've made it clear over the last few years that I love him and I hate the way everyone mocks him, but I can't see him as Merrick. I'm not just playing favorites.
I really do love the idea of Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Buffy. We've seen that she can kick ass, and I feel that we're past the idea of making the diminutive blonde girl turn out to be a hero instead of a victim. I mean, I appreciate what Joss was trying to do, and it was great for the series. But now it's almost become a cliche.

Over the last couple of days, I've started to really like the idea of Emma Bell as Buffy. If you're unfamiliar with her, she's the girl that worked in the bar with Sam in season five, when he told her his name was Keith. She's short, blonde, and has green eyes. She's currently in The Walking Dead on AMC and she's doing Final Destination 5. I feel like she could handle it, and she's not very well known - which I sort of prefer.
