The producer of the scuffle was a pint-sized anomaly. Namely Dawn.
I helped her to her feet.
"Heya kiddo. What're you out for? Patrol?" I asked, actually wanting to know if they were around.

"Patrol? Are you kidding, Buffy'd never let me patrol with them. Not in a million years," Dawn scoffed, "As the Chosen One's -- well, one of the Chosen Ones -- little sister, I have the oh-so distinct honour of having a sunset curfew until I'm old and wrinkly."
She paused, shooting Faith a contemplating look. "Do vamps even eat old people? I mean, they probably taste stale or something right?"
Dawn shook her head, changing the subject. "Doesn't really matter, does it... Sooo, are you patrolling?"

dunno about the old and wrinkly thing. I've never seen them suck on an old person, but yeah..
When you're hungry enough I guess...
I fibbed. "Yeah..patrolling."
In truth, I was bored, and broke. Not a good combo for a person who doesn't give a shit about killing people.
"So..what's goin' on, kiddo? Anything?"
