iPad iOS funkiness

Baseball season has arrived and with it comes the horrid traffic conditions involved with commuting home from work. Usually the drive is ez-pz driving down the same street for a few miles, but when there’s a game, my detour is hopping on the freeway, which is also packed, or driving thru downtown, also packed. So I took some time to find the ( Read more... )

Apple and Google aren't friendly - I wouldn't mix the two if I could help it. Isn't there an Apple calendar ap? I really dislike Apple so I don't use it at all. Maybe unrelated, but I have also had trouble between yahoo and google. Sending e-mails between the two is a nightmare.

What a wonderful observation to share. Thank you. Yes, it is a problem when competitors feel the need to do things in ways that their enemies cannot easily adopt into their own system.

I realized that my iOS calendar app wasn't going to make "importing" calendar data easy the way google calendar app allows. That's why I downloaded Google's calendar app. I think in the past, when iCal was around, importing data was possible but I haven't tried that, and since I began using the bundled calendar app on my iphone for my work schedule, I've been enjoying the ways my iPhone interacts with it. I previously used google's calendar for this (on an iPh), but the powers that be in management didn't comply with their scheduling system to allow for easily manipulating data, and because I work in an area of government, the security required for synching my government google account requires security apps which I don't really understand. There is a certain freedom about NOT having my phone linked to the government email account.

Could you get a cheap android phone/tablet to use for your calendar app and government account? Or would that make it meaningless? Your situation seems complicated. Hope you find a good solution.

Maybe. I still have a couple old androids. I just need to wait until the contract for an alternate number I'm using ends.

But it looks like the downloaded Google calendar works fine on my phone for keeping track of the home game dates. I can also set it up as a widget for at-a-glance references.
